Why look when there's nothing to find?

Written for the cutest [livejournal.com profile] baeklights for [livejournal.com profile] baektobaek 2014.

"A bingo game," Baekhyun comments flatly as soon as he steps into the big hall. He slants a glare at his mother who is looking way too happy for someone who is about to subject their son to bingo. "Really?"

"Oh hush," his mother giddily states, wrapping an arm around him as she herds him towards a group of old(er) ladies. "Bingo is fun and gets me out of the house and meet a lot of people. I wanted you to see what I've been doing."

"And it's bingo?" Baekhyun repeats, eyeing the old lady that's closest to them. She's giving him a once over and it's not really one that he'd normally feel smug about. If it was Soojung from English, he'd preen. Hell if it was his best friend Jongdae, he'd accept it. They've long come to a standstill at who is better looking between the two of them. "I don't know if this is exactly the kind of mother and son bonding time I'm looking for."

"This is exactly the kind of mother and son bonding time you're looking for," his mother chuckles at his side as she shoves him aside before the old lady's paws could land on him. "Why don't you go help distribute the cards?"

"So this is why," Baekhyun grumbles, making a face at his mother as he makes his way to the stage where some guy was dividing the bingo cards into smaller stacks. "Just needed a little helper." He nudges the guy, which is probably a ‘too familiar' action but he needs someone to commiserate with him. "Hey, were you dragged here, too?"

The guy turns around and Baekhyun's breath gets caught in between an inhale and exhale, as if confused as to where to go, up or down, kind of like Baekhyun's heart. Because, hell, it's not everyday that you find the school's resident bad boy out of his regular black and leather getup, much less in a bingo game event.

"You?" Baekhyun blurts out rather rudely before his brain can catch up with his mouth. "Kim Jongin? You're—"

"Of course it's you. Typical." Resident bad boy turns back to fixing the cards without saying anything else, which, of course, offends Baekhyun. It's not like he asked a question or anything.

"Of course it's me?" Baekhyun repeats. What's that supposed to mean? Baekhyun's presence is a glorious one. Jongdae has never admitted it, neither has anyone else close to him, but it really is and whatever this kid says doesn't mean anything.

"You, the kid who never stops talking and moving and yawning," Jongin enumerates, not even bothering to look up. "If I knew you were the one Mrs. Byun was referring to when she said she'd bring someone along to help out…" He scoffs and shakes his head.

"I'm a good helper," Baekhyun interjects, not entirely sure why he's suddenly so eager to help to impress. Just moments ago, he was grumbling because his mother tricked him to having some bonding time with her just to drag him to a bingo game. "I'm very flexible and obedient and—"

"I'm sure you are," Jongin interrupts with a smirk on his face and a stack of cards shoved into Baekhyun's hands. "Go make yourself flexible and obedient over at the tables." He grabs the rest and starts distributing them on the other side.

Baekhyun takes in the sight of Jongin organising bingo cards on the tables and making nice with the grandmas (his mother would kill him if she found out he herded her along with that tag) in his plain white shirt and not-so-tight-but-tight-enough blue jeans. It's like his brain is short-circuiting at the thought that Kim Jongin is smiling—which is actually a really beautiful smile—like nothing is wrong with the world, unlike his usual school scowl.

And then he chances a glance at his mother, who is smirking at him like she's just won the lottery. Oh no. She didn't just—Baekhyun is going to kill his mother. What kind of mother sets her son up during a bingo game?

Jongdae's quiet laughter is annoying. It's even more annoying when the quiet laughter is directed at Baekhyun, who has finally told Jongdae of the past two weekends where he's kind of, sort of, hung out with Kim Jongin during a bingo game. Baekhyun says kind of and sort of because Jongin never really says anything when they're sitting beside each other on the side of the room as the oldies play it out. Baekhyun does all the talking, or rather, the commenting, and Jongin always just sits there. He doesn't even grunt. It's worse than talking to a wall. At least, Baekhyun can punch a wall. He can't punch a Kim Jongin.

What he can do is punch Jongdae.

Jongdae falls off his seat with a crash, a quiet spreading over the class as their teacher stops in the middle of her lecture to glare at both of them.

"Why am I not surprised that it's the two of you again?" is Mrs. Jung's immediate comment before looking at Jongdae, who hurriedly gets up and sits back down. "Are you alright, Jongdae?"

"Fine," Jongdae squeaks through his embarrassment and annoyance at Baekhyun. "Baekhyun was just overexcited, talking about his new boyfriend—" The class snickers even as Baekhyun pushes Jongdae off his seat again.

"Alright, that's enough," Mrs. Jung cuts in. "Detention for you, Mr. Byun."

"What? Just me?" Baekhyun complains loudly like a child. He doesn't care. Jongdae started this. "Jongdae started it. He—"

"I really don't want to hear it, Mr. Byun," Mrs. Jung interrupts. "Detention. After school."

Baekhyun slumps back in his seat when the lecture resumes. Jongdae snickers beside him, even though he looks rattled at being harassed by his best friend.

"You'll thank me later," Jongdae whispers and Baekhyun just wants to smack him.

Baekhyun really wants to smack Jongdae. Really hard. Right in his face or his mouth so that he won't be able to talk or laugh or make any sound. He doesn't understand in what universe the information you share in secret should be used against you. Because right here in the detention room sits Kim Jongin, doodling randomly at the back of his notebook.

Jongin looks up when Baekhyun dumps himself two seats away because Baekhyun doesn't really want to be around Jongin right now. Not when, technically, this is also Jongin's fault. Baekhyun should never have talked about him.

"Must've been pretty bad for you to get sent here," Jongin comments after a few minutes of silence. Baekhyun snaps a shocked look his way. "I mean, just how badly did you talk your classmates' ears off to get you sent to detention?"

Baekhyun kind of bares his canines at him, which he's been told are pointy and could appear kind of menacing. "I punched Jongdae off his seat. Is that good enough for you?"

Jongin's eyebrows rise up his forehead, looking a mix of surprise and amusement. "Looks like you can pack a punch in that cuteness of yours," he remarks with a chuckle before turning back to his doodling.

Baekhyun opens his mouth to retaliate harshly but then his brain shuts down at being called cute and being the recipient of something more than a scowl and a smirk from Kim Jongin. "Did you just call me cute?" he blurts out, blinking rapidly afterwards at the verbal vomit. "I mean—"

"So what if I did?" Jongin challenges. "What are you gonna do about it?"

Baekhyun doesn't have an answer to that.

Baekhyun isn't sure how things have come to this. He's always known that he's had a crush on Jongin. Like how could anyone not have a crush on him? Sure he's broody and scowly and wears black all year round. But Jongin is also incredibly handsome. His everything is perfectly proportioned and his height is just right for Baekhyun to tilt his head up to and kiss… which is just the start of all his fantasies Jongin-related. Still, he's pretty sure he's the only one who knows that. It might be too big of a crush, but it's also one that he's learned to crush.

Baekhyun may talk all the time about how glorious he is, but that's just it. It's all talk. Baekhyun is so Baekhyun. What can he offer to Jongin that Jongin doesn't already have? Jongin would probably prefer dating himself than dating someone like Baekhyun, who, as Jongin had already mentioned before, is one who never stops talking and moving. It's clearly a no deal for him.

The real curious thing is how the hell Jongdae and his mother found out about it. It's impossible that they just hit the jackpot randomly. But then again, it really could be that Jongin is the first kid that his mother saw at the bingo and decided to work her (non-existent) matchmaking skills. His mother and best friend are going to be even more heartbroken than Baekhyun when they realize there's no chance in hell he and Jongin are happening.

"Interesting. You're not doing any talking." Jongin looks kind of like he's surprised, but more like he's wondering what's making him so quiet. Baekhyun thinks Jongin just probably wants to know so that he can use it to shut him up next time.

It's another one of those bingo Saturday nights. This time, though, instead of hanging out inside, they've decided to stay outside in the cool night air. He's not sure what possessed him to do it, but Baekhyun followed Jongin outside when he went out. He keeps assuring himself it's just because he doesn't want to be left alone inside.

"I'm not telling you what's making me shut up," Baekhyun retorts with a grin. "But now that you've gotten me to start talking, I'm never shutting up now." He wiggles his eyebrows up and down at the frightened expression on Jongin's face. "So… how's it going these days? Haven't been seeing you around since, you know, I haven't been in detention? Scared any kids lately? Kicked a puppy? Stole someone's lunch money?"

"I'm not a bully, Baekhyun," Jongin growls at him. Baekhyun just laughs. "I've never done any of those things."

"So do you just get annoyed at your best friend a lot and punch him so you get detention?" Baekhyun snickers. He hasn't punched Jongdae again since, but then he hasn't really talked to Jongdae about Jongin since then either.

Jongin rolls his eyes and shakes his head as he leans back on the chair. "Sehun has tutoring after classes," he shares, much to Baekhyun's surprise. "So I wait for him."

"You get detention to wait for him?" Baekhyun asks. He's pretty sure there are better ways to show your friend that kind of solidarity. Intentionally getting one's self in detention probably isn't one of those. "Why would you intentionally want to get detention?"

"I don't," is Jongin's short answer.

"You're weird," Baekhyun comments, shrugging. "To each his own, I guess. I mean, that's a really interesting concept of loyalty you've got."

Jongin sighs, clearly irritated. "Everywhere else is just noisy, okay?" he snaps. "I don't particularly like hanging out at the gym or the field or even the library. There are hardly any people in detention so I hang out there instead."

Baekhyun blinks. "You mean the teachers let you hang out in the detention hall even if you're not really in detention?" Jongin quirks an eyebrow. "Well, that's… that completely ruins your reputation."

"Of what?" Jongin smirks.

"Of you being this bad boy," Baekhyun says, gesturing up and down at him. "You fit the bill and now that I know you're just a really good friend, I don't know how to unsee it!" Jongin isn't actually a bad kid; doesn't beat up other kids, doesn't bully them for lunch, in fact he doesn't do anything. The only thing he's probably guilty of is being a good friend. Well then, that doesn't bode well for Baekhyun.

Jongin shrugs. "People just see what they want to see."

"Or maybe they just don't look for fear of what they want to see but won't find," Baekhyun quips.

"Is that how you look at things, Baekhyun?" Jongin is looking at him, really looking, and it makes Baekhyun shift uncomfortably in his seat because Jongin has never really looked at him before.

Baekhyun chuckles. "Why look when there's nothing to find, right?" he says it as lightheartedly as he can, although it's the truth. There are several things in his life that he's learned to look away from, one of them being the fact that Jongin, even more so now, is too good for him.

"You should look," Jongin says after a while. "You might be surprised at what you find." He stands and goes back inside before Baekhyun could even form a reply.

"What are you doing?"

Baekhyun jumps and turns around so fast that his shoulder hits the wall. He yelps and grabs his shoulder as he looks up at Oh Sehun. Kim Jongin's best friend. Baekhyun gulps. It's not too hard to understand what's happening here. Jongin is the only one inside the detention room, and Baekhyun had been shamelessly peeking in.

"Nothing," Baekhyun responds breezily. Nothing like good ol' fashioned denial. "I was just looking for one of my friends. Haven't seen him much and I was wondering if he was in detention because you never know." He grins and laughs and hopes that Sehun would let it go.

Sehun doesn't say anything. He just shoves Baekhyun inside the room.

"Jongin, he's looking for you," Sehun announces at their entrance.

"I was not," Baekhyun sputters as Jongin raises his eyebrows in question.

"Oh sorry," Sehun corrects himself with a deceivingly sweet smile. "I meant, he was looking at—watching?—you for who knows how long now."

"Nope. No," Baekhyun retorts, shaking his head. "I was not. I was just—"

Sehun sighs impatiently before turning to Jongin. "I'm going to stay a while and work in the library," he tells him. "Are you two going to be okay?"

"What—no—" Baekhyun starts.

"Sure," Jongin answers for both of them and then Sehun is sweeping out of the room, winking at Baekhyun.

"I wasn't stalking you," Baekhyun launches into an explanation about how he was really looking for Jongdae, even if it's common knowledge that Jongdae never gets into detention because he's one of those nerdy kids who cares about their academic standing. It still makes Baekhyun wonder how they ever remained friends, given that Baekhyun isn't as good at keeping his grades up or his social standing as Jongdae is.

"I'm pretty sure Sehun used the words looking and watching, not stalking," Jongin says after Baekhyun's longwinded speech. "Should I be more inclined to believe your words?"

"His words," Baekhyun is quick to say before blushing. "And mine. Not the stalking part, but the rest of it." He closes his eyes for a second because this is not going well. He wasn't actually stalking Jongin, not really. He just wanted to see what he did when he hung out by himself during his supposed detention. As it turns out, Jongin really likes to draw. He looked so serious and focused when Baekhyun was watching him earlier—which doesn't prove Sehun's claims of him watching Jongin. Nope. Baekhyun was just curious that's why he did it. "I'm just going to… go. Bye."

Baekhyun doesn't get very far. Jongin runs after him and grabs his arm. Sehun seems to have disappeared. He doesn't get to struggle because what Jongin says next shuts him up.

"C'mon let's go grab something to eat."

The next several days are weird. Baekhyun has stopped coming with his mother to bingo games but, for some reason, he still sees Jongin all the time. He's made sure that he doesn't come to the detention hall, either by accident or not.

The thing is, he and Jongin manages to run into each other anyway. In the cafeteria, where Baekhyun's never seen him. In the library, where Jongin thinks is too quiet. In the gym and even the field, where Jongin thinks it's too noisy. It's weird. Baekhyun feels like Jongin is everywhere all the time all of a sudden, like he's being watched and followed.

"Have you ever stopped to think that this is Jongin's school too? That he probably has been around all the time, just that you've never noticed him?" Jongdae suggests when Baekhyun brings it up out of frustration.

Baekhyun frowns and shakes his head. "I would have noticed," he insists. There's no way he would have not noticed Jongin. He's so vibrant, although it may look otherwise, and interesting that Baekhyun always finds himself looking at him.

"Maybe he's been stalking you," Jongdae then half teases. "Probably to give you a taste of your own medicine."

Baekhyun frowns. "That's a dick thing to say."

Jongdae startles, opening his mouth then closing it again. He doesn't say anything for a few moments. "You really like him, huh?" His tone is uncertain.

Baekhyun considers lying. But then Jongdae has known that he's had a crush on Jongin for a while now. He probably should have made it clear how serious the crush is.

"You're right," Baekhyun says. "He probably wants to give me a taste of what being stalked is like. Although, for the record, I never really stalked him."

"Baekhyun," Jongdae chides him with a frown. "I'm sorry I said that. I was kidding."

"Well it's better than the alternative," Baekhyun tells him, shrugging.

"Which is him actually wanting to see you and maybe spend time with you?" Jongdae suggests. "Since you obviously don't go to bingo anymore."

Baekhyun scoffs. "Why would he want to do that? He wouldn't even have started talking to me if I hadn't been dragged into bingo." He's never imagined him and Jongin to he friends. They moved in different social circles and even if they'd had the same classes, Jongin was just too cool to even say one word to him. He normally just glared at him broodily.

Jongdae stares at him in disbelief. "I didn't realize how low your self-esteem was," he comments.

"It's not usually this bad," Baekhyun sighs. "Jongin is just confusing me."

"Confusing or not, you should really learn to give yourself a little more credit," Jongdae says, clapping his back.

Baekhyun normally does. But with Jongin in the picture, he just can't.

Baekhyun has managed to avoid Jongin for a whole week. He was halfway through a successful second week when Sehun corners him as he was coming out of the Supreme store in the mall.

"What are you doing here?" Baekhyun glances around worriedly as discreetly as he could. Jongin might be lurking around the corners.

It's ridiculous really that he's avoiding Jongin. But Baekhyun can't handle seeing him all the time and then going back to the way things were, which is what's going to happen. There's no way Jongin won't get bored with him.

"Don't worry it's just me," Sehun assures him, smirk so big that Baekhyun almost reaches out to slap it off.

"Okay..." Baekhyun says, unsure as to what's happening. "What's up? Or down, whichever you prefer." He grins.

Sehun rolls his eyes, looking like talking to Baekhyun is a big pain to him. "A couple of us are volunteering at the bingo game on Saturday. You should be there."

"I think I'll pass," Baekhyun starts.

"Great," Sehun drawls. "I knew you'd say yes so I already signed you up in advance. Don't worry you'll get extra credit." With a wave, he leaves Baekhyun stunned.

"Sonofa..." Baekhyun curses under his breath.

Bingo is actually a boring game now that Baekhyun is paying attention. He's in one corner of the room, sitting in between Jongdae, whom he's dragged to come with him, and this hot guy that Baekhyun sees around school sometimes. Baekhyun would rather not pay attention actually, except Jongdae is enjoying himself with Yixing, who does anything that Jongdae wants. He can't talk to hot guy either because, well, he's too busy paying attention just so he can distract himself.

"You alright?" Hot guy asks with such cute concern. Maybe this is just the distraction that he needs.

"I'm bored," Baekhyun admits with a sheepish grin.

"Not into bingo, huh," hot guy teases with a smile that's so cute, it has Baekhyun smiling for the first time that evening.

"You can say that," Baekhyun answers truthfully. "I used to volunteer to help my mom out. But now I'm just here for the forced extra school credit."

Hot guy laughs and Baekhyun grins as he appreciates his hotness. His light blond hair is slicked back, his pink lips are stretched into a really handsome smile over perfect teeth.

"I'm Joonmyun," hot guy introduces himself. It's an unfortunate name but his everything else makes up for it.

"Baekhyun," he replies.

"Bingo is not so bad, you know," Joonmyun says. "It's all about looking for patterns."

"Well what if I don't like patterns?" Baekhyun retorts with a teasing laugh. "Maybe I like being spontaneous."

Joonmyun shakes his head and even that is hot. "That's a pattern too," he tells him with a laugh.

"Hopefully it's one that's harder to decode," Baekhyun says with a pout. He's doing it to be cute. Flirting with a hot guy is a very good distraction indeed.

Joonmyun laughs. "I can't believe we haven't met before."

"You've wanted to meet me?" Baekhyun asks, very much surprised. "I mean I've seen you around in school but I didn't realize that it was the same for you. And I mean that in the best way possible."

"There are many interpretations to that but I get you," Joonmyun laughs. "But yeah. I see you around and I hear so much about you that I can't help but want to."

Baekhyun blinks and then blushes, suddenly self conscious. "Well then, I'm assuming you hear all good things then since you've been dying to meet me." He winks. "I'm much better in person than hearsay by the way."

"I'm beginning to see that," Joonmyun says, still laughing. Baekhyun smiles. It's nice to see someone who takes his flirting jabs in stride. Not everyone does. Just like Jongin. "It's a good thing you decided to get dragged here then."

"I'm glad I did too," Baekhyun agrees.

"Yeah Jongin always--" Joonmyun starts.

"Hey can I borrow Baekhyun for a moment?" Jongin appears out of nowhere and grabs Baekhyun's arm, dragging him out of the hall.

"What the hell!" Baekhyun exclaims once he's disentangled himself from Jongin.

Jongin stands there frozen, staring at his hand. Baekhyun glares at him and grits his teeth. The two weeks are almost over and now here he is face to face with Jongin. Damnit.

"Sorry," Jongin blurts out when Baekhyun opens his mouth to speak. "I didn't mean to drag you out like that. I was just... I just wanted to..." He pauses. "I'm sorry."

Baekhyun rolls his eyes and leans against the wall, arms crossed. "What do you want? You obviously have something important you wanted to say."

Jongin's brows furrow and he just stands there and kind of broods. Baekhyun almost laughs because it's so typical of him to do just that. But he doesn't do anything and just waits because he's avoided Jongin as much as he could and he'll avoid talking to him if he can.

"Nothing that important to be honest," Jongin confesses. "But... You've been avoiding me." His look turns accusing.

"Why would I?" Baekhyun retorts. "I'm busy and don't have time to help out during bingo. I'm here today because Sehun forced me to go." Jongin snorts at that. "It's really rich of you to think that I make an effort to rearrange my routine just to avoid you."

"Well not when it's obvious," Jongin snickers. "I mean since when do you walk to the back of the school to get to class?" He smirks.

"You--" Baekhyun sputters. He scoffs and slides down to the floor, shaking his head. "You're so full of yourself. So I was avoiding you. What are you going to do about it?"

"Ask you why," is Jongin's immediate answer, sitting down beside him. He looks at Baekhyun so earnestly when he asks, "why have you been avoiding me, Baekhyun?"

Baekhyun sighs. "Look it's not a big deal. There are just things I have to deal with so I'm distancing myself with most people," he explains, which is mostly true. He stares ahead.

Jongin doesn't say anything, just sits there, which makes Baekhyun frustrated because of course he doesn't really care. He huffs in annoyance.

"Shouldn't you go back inside?" Baekhyun reminds him. "Your friends might be looking for you."

"Nah," Jongin corrects him and shakes his head. "Sehun just left actually."

"Why would he do that?" Baekhyun asks, surprised.

"He thinks bingo is stupid," Jongin tells him. Baekhyun makes a face.

"Apparently it isn't," Baekhyun says, smiling a little. "Joonmyun said it's all about looking for patterns. Now that I think about it, it sounds like it can actually be fun." He smiles even more at the thought of Joonmyun and his handsome smile. It's nice to be finally acquainted with him, and not just because he thinks he's hot. It would be nice to hang out with people who aren't Jongdae for a change.

"Ah yes, Joonmyun," Jongin mumbles, leaning his head back on the wall and sighs almost inaudibly. "You guys looked like you were having an interesting conversation."

"It was mostly him convincing me that bingo is not so bad," Baekhyun says otherwise. "So don't sound so jealous," he teases, laughing when Jongin opens his eyes, startled.

"Well I wouldn't be so jealous if you hadn't been avoiding me and if the only reason I'm actually talking to you right now wasn't because I asked my best friend to find a way to get you to be here," Jongin responds, long-winded. He's not looking at Baekhyun, but staring at his shoes so he doesn't see Baekhyun gaping at him.

"You made Sehun ask me to come here?" Baekhyun repeats because, wait a minute, why would Jongin do that? What for?

"I really wanted to talk to you and that was the only way I knew how to do that," Jongin elaborates, still not looking at Baekhyun. He looks all dark and gloomy, staring at the pavement in determination.

"Talk about what?" Baekhyun presses.

"Just..." Jongin takes a deep breath. "Do you not like being around me?" he asks.

It sounds strange coming from Jongin because he's normally so confident and for him to sound almost insecure because Baekhyun doesn't exactly make him feel good.

"It's not that, Jongin," Baekhyun insists. "Trust me. I just have issues."

"I mean, we went out and then you suddenly don't want to have anything to do with me," Jongin clarifies. "Was it that bad?"

"No," Baekhyun whispers.

The thing is, it was actually so wonderful that Baekhyun found himself digging himself into a grave thinking about how perfect of a boyfriend Jongin would be. Jongin isn't just insanely attractive. He's also actually really sweet and thoughtful. And having seen that, having experienced it, Baekhyun would rather preserve it than lose whatever nice things he's experienced with him. Baekhyun would really rather he not be let down at all than be let down easy.

"Look if you hate me you should just say so instead of just leading me on--"

"Leading you on?" Baekhyun interrupts in shock, shifting in his seat to stare at him. "What are you talking about?"

Jongin meets his gaze. It's piercingly scrutinizing like he's searching for something on Baekhyun's face. His face clears up with something like astonishment before his brows furrow and his whole face clouds over again.

"There's a reason that you've been volunteered to bingo games," Jongin starts, hesitant.

"Yes, because my mom wanted to," Baekhyun tells him.

"Because I talked about you," Jongin says softly. "Not a lot. But enough for your mom to..." He shrugs, averting his gaze as Baekhyun gives out a sharp gasp.

So Baekhyun really wasn't imagining his mom trying to set him up. He'd brushed it off as coincidence because his mom never really brought Jongin up after that. But learning this now... Wow, what's going on?

"Jongin, what are you...?" Baekhyun's voice trails away because he doesn't know if he wants the answer to that question. It can't be real.

"Just that, maybe, just maybe things aren't what they seem because maybe you haven't been looking," Jongin says it quietly but Baekhyun hears him loud and clear.

"Are you saying that I should look because I might actually find something I like?" Baekhyun smiles, not even caring that he sounds too hopeful.

Jongin shrugs and there's a shy smile on his face that Baekhyun hasn't seen before. It's cute.

"I told you," Jongin says. "You should look because you never know what you'll find. And those who find, get to keep."

"You have a very roundabout way of asking me out, Jongin," Baekhyun teases.

Jongin flushes a dark red. "Well straightforward doesn't seem to work on you," he snaps.

"Hey, you always sounded like you were annoyed with me," Baekhyun defends himself. "What was I supposed to think? You also never really noticed me before. Like how am I supposed to believe that you've talked about me to my mom when--"

Baekhyun forgets his train of thought because Jongin is kissing him. His mind ceases to work and restarts itself very slowly until it finally manages to catch up. He then places a palm to Jongin's cheek and kisses him back.

"I've always noticed you," Jongin whispers through his lips. Baekhyun kisses him again. "So will you go out with me?"

"Yes," Baekhyun answers in between kisses. "I'll go out with you."

I'm sorry I don't have a dreamwidth account, so I'm replying as anonymous.

But this is soooooo cute.

KaiBaek is one of those ships I rarely see, but you executed this quite well. Everything is just on point and so cute and even the dialogues of the character are well put. They don't stick out and sound casual dialogue to my brain (I have a thing for that. Don't mind me.)

Mrs. Byun as matchmaker by request of Jongin! Ugh. How to get a mother like that? Jongin's character here is just so so nice. Wearing all black and staying at detentions to wait for his best friend. ;;;;

Sehun seems like a super cool best friend here too. Ugh.

Joonmyun! as! hot! boy! YES.

I like this fic. :3
