Jooyeon studiously copied the notes that their math teacher was writing on the board while explaining. He then went on to show and explain some computations on the board.

Tiffany, the girl seated beside Jooyeon, sighed in frustration. Jooyeon turned to her and whispered, “Are you okay?”

Tiffany made a face. “I really hate math,” she said.

Jooyeon smiled. “I know what you mean. I really don’t know why we even have to learn all this stuff.”

“What are you talking about? You’re doing so well,” Tiffany told her.

“Maybe we should study for the upcoming quiz together,” Jooyeon suggested. “It’ll be fun.”

Jooyeon grinned as Tiffany agreed. Math class had been considerably more fun ever since Seungho had been sent to another school. The same week that the incident happened, she met Tiffany, who was such a nice girl. When Jooyeon told Taeyeon about her, Taeyeon said that she was a really nice girl. She was still pretty much a new student, having been with the school for only a year. She had come from the US.

Soon, math class ended. As they packed up their books, Jooyeon turned to Tiffany. “Hey, do you want to have lunch with us?” she asked.

“Are you sure?” Tiffany asked hesitantly. She knew the crowd that Jooyeon hung out with, the kingkas of their year and some upperclassmen. Plus, she was best friends with Taeyeon, who was arguably the prettiest girl in school. It was a crowd that anyone would die to be a part of.

“Of course,” Jooyeon said. “Why not? Unless, of course, you don’t want to. I totally understand.” She knew how intimidating the boys could seem. People would never really know what they’re like unless they start hanging out with them. Instead of thinking that they’re too cool or aloof, even pompous, one would see how they’re really dorks, who are so fun to be with.

“I just don’t want to intrude,” Tiffany said as they walked out of the classroom together. She immediately spotted Hyukjae and Donghae, who were, of course, waiting for Jooyeon.

“You won’t be intruding, I promise,” Jooyeon insisted with a warm smile. Tiffany smiled back.

“Hey,” Hyukjae greeted. He smiled at Tiffany.

Donghae got the books Jooyeon was carrying. Jooyeon smiled at him in thanks.

“Oppa,” Jooyeon said, looking at both Hyukjae and Donghae. “This is Tiffany.”

“I’m Lee Hyukjae,” Hyukjae said, offering to shake her hand.

“Donghae,” Donghae then said with a small smile.

“I’m Tiffany,” Tiffany then said, bowing politely. “It’s nice to meet you both.”

“I hope it’s okay that she’s having lunch with us today,” Jooyeon told the boys.

“Of course it’s okay,” Donghae said.

“You can have lunch with us everyday for the rest of our lives if you wish,” Hyukjae went on.

Tiffany laughed, her eye smile disarming Hyukjae and Donghae.

When they reached the cafeteria, Jooyeon introduced Tiffany to everyone. Taeyeon made Tiffany sit beside her. The boys introduced themselves one by one and made Tiffany all confused.

“It’s so nice to meet all of you guys,” Tiffany said, bowing politely. “I hope I can remember your names at once.”

“Here’s something to help you remember,” Shindong said.

“This is according to Jooyeon,” Hankyung added. Jooyeon groaned, knowing this was about her drunken incident again.

“I’m the teddy bear. This is the prince,” Shindong said, pointing at Donghae. “The cute one,” he proceeded, pointing at Hyukjae. “He’s the fine one,” he continued, pointing at Siwon.

“Can we stop this now?” Jooyeon interrupted, smiling. When Tiffany looked curiously at her, she said, “I’ll tell you about it later.”

As Shindong, Siwon and Hankyung chatted up Tiffany, Donghae lightly nudged Jooyeon. “She’s really nice,” Donghae commented.

Jooyeon nodded. “The boys seem to really like her,” she observed as they all laughed with each other.

“Wait ‘til Kangin meets her,” Hyukjae said, grinning.

Taeyeon laughed. “He’s not going to know what hit him.” Hyukjae laughingly agreed.

Donghae gently nudged Jooyeon again. When Jooyeon looked at him, he turned a bit pink. He didn’t know why he was so nervous. There was nothing wrong with what he was going to ask her.

“Oppa, what is it?” she asked him.

“What are you doing after school?” he asked her straightforwardly.

“Nothing in particular,” she answered with a shrug. “Why?”

“I was wondering if you could go with me to buy some new soccer shoes,” he said. “I need them for when I get in the team.”

Jooyeon laughed. “Oppa, you don’t even know if you’re going to get in.”

“Of course I’m going to get in,” Donghae interjected. “You’ve seen me play, haven’t you?” Jooyeon laughed even harder. “So… will you go with me?” he asked, more seriously.

Jooyeon nodded with a smile. Donghae grinned back at her, feeling happier than he had been this morning. It wasn’t exactly a date, which wasn’t something he wanted to go for yet, but he liked the fact that they were going to spend some time together.

When Jooyeon got out of her last class, she saw Donghae waiting for her outside. He was leaning against the wall, playing a game on his phone. Jooyeon couldn’t help but think how handsome he really was. He really was like a prince. Leaning that way on the wall made him seem like he was modeling the school uniform instead of actually being a student. The gray pants, the white polo shirt, navy blue tie and blazer just looked really good on him. No wonder girls almost swooned when they passed by him.

Donghae then looked up and met her gaze. She immediately looked surprised and tried to pretend that she had just seen him.

“You ready to go?” he asked her, straightening up and putting his phone in his pocket.

“Yes,” she said with a nod. “I just have to return these to the library.” She held up the two books she was carrying.

After going to the library, they went to the parking lot. They found the others already hanging out, apparently waiting for them. Taeyeon and Siwon were standing on one side, talking seriously about something, while the boys were horsing around with a basketball ball.

“There you guys are!” Heechul said, ignoring the pass that Hankyung gave him, making the ball roll across the lot. Kangin ran after the ball.

“Where have you guys been?” Shindong demanded.

“Library,” Jooyeon answered, smiling. Donghae walked over to Hyukjae and told him something. Hyukjae looked back at him in disbelief then patted his back proudly.

“You’re always at the library,” Hankyung complained.

“It’s because I actually study,” Jooyeon shot back, chuckling. She then saw Kangin return with the ball. “Oppa, why weren’t you at lunch today?”

“Had to cram homework,” Kangin told her, smiling sheepishly. “Why? Did you miss me?” he asked teasingly, wiggling his eyebrows.

“You just missed the best lunch of your life,” Hyukjae butted in, catching on. He grinned. Donghae shook his head.

“The best lunch of my life?” Kangin asked, snickering. He looked from Jooyeon to Hyukjae. “What are you two going on about?”

“Tiffany!” some of the boys chorused.

Jooyeon, Donghae and Hyukjae both turned around. Tiffany was somewhat jogging towards them. She waved back at the boys. Taeyeon left Siwon and walked over to where Jooyeon was.

“Hey,” Jooyeon said. “What are you doing here?”

“I have this thing at my house tonight, like a small get together and I was wondering if you guys would like to come,” Tiffany asked, glancing at everyone.

“That would be great!” Taeyeon said, smiling widely.

“I though you and Siwon had plans,” Hyukjae pointed out, looking back at Siwon, who was walking over to his car.

Taeyeon ignored him and looked at the others. “You guys game?”

“Sure!” the boys chorused.

“Where’s Kyu?” Shindong demanded. No one knew where he was. The boy did a disappearing act sometimes. “I’ll just text him—oh you haven’t met him yet.” He smiled sheepishly. “Sorry.”

“No, it’s fine,” Tiffany said. “You can invite the ones I haven’t met yet.” She then noticed Kangin, who was shifting uncomfortably in his place. She took a step towards him. “I think we haven’t met. I’m Tiffany.” She offered to shake his hand.

When Kangin just continued staring at her, Hankyung heavily patted him on the back. “This is Kangin,” he said. “He has this condition where he loses the ability to speak when a pretty girl is around.”

Kangin turned red. “I’m Kangin,” he mumbled, shaking her hand.

Tiffany laughed. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Jooyeon shook her head in disbelief. Kangin looked like he’d been struck by lightning with the way he kept on looking at her. She smiled happily. It was going to be fun seeing him fall in love.

“Hey,” Donghae told her, “It’s okay if you want to go to Tiffany’s. I can just—.”

Jooyeon shook her head. “Don’t be silly, oppa. You need that for your try out.”

“Are you sure?” he asked. “It looks like it’s going to be a fun thing.”

“I have fun when I’m with you,” she pointed out, “so it doesn’t matter.” This made Donghae grin. Jooyeon turned to the others. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow then.”

“You’re not coming?” Taeyeon asked, surprised.

“I’m going to the mall with fishy,” Jooyeon told them.

“Really?” Taeyeon asked, smiling knowingly at Donghae. The boys exchanged smirks. Donghae ignored everyone and walked towards his car.

“Yeah. He’s going to buy something,” Jooyeon told them. She turned to Tiffany. “I’m so sorry I won’t be able to go,” she apologized before she left and followed Donghae.

“It’s perfectly fine,” Tiffany said, wondering if something was going on with the two of them. When she turned to ask Taeyeon and Hyukjae, both just smiled at her and said that they didn’t know.
